Prenderguest Cottages, Ayton

Originally built around the mid 18th century these small cottages on the edge of Ayton housed labourers for nearby Prenderguest farm.

We were asked for our help following a survey carried out by a local architect exposing problems with damp, inappropriate cement pointing and an unstable chimney.

Through careful repointing of several elevations in lime mortar the rebuilding of the chimney incorporating flue liners and new lead flashings as well as preventative maintenance such as fitting of chimney cowls we resolved all the issues in the survey.
