Coldingham Priory

Coldingham Priory is of historic significance as Saint Ebba established her religious settlement in the early seventh century an example of very early Christian settlement.  The present building is made up of a portion of a 13th century priory established by Benedictine monks. The North and East walls of the present building date from about 1200.

T Ferris Stonemasons & Building Services submitted the best tender in collaboration with stone supplier Hutton Stone Co Ltd from West Fishwick to undertake a programme of masonry repairs including 568 indented repairs, 73 carved stone replacements and 937 square metres re-pointing.

The project was enabled to proceed with grants from FCC Communities Foundation and Viridor Credits, under the Scottish Landfill Communities Fund scheme, as part of the scheme’s objective to conserve historic buildings.
