We do not simply focus on traditional buildings, however. We also work with new and modern buildings, for example building in a bespoke stone fireplace or floor to ceiling marble to create a fabulous bathroom. From enhancing a modern design with architectural antiques to completing an extension, conservatory, garage or new build, we bring the same standard of excellence to all our work.

A bespoke service

There is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to our services. We work with professional clients who have a range of expertise on hand and simply need us for our specialist lime pointing and stonemasonry skills. Others require us to manage the project from start to finish, including the sourcing of sub-contracted craftsmen with expertise in associated trades like woodwork or design, as well as authentic materials, local stone and architectural antiques.

Customer experience is our priority and we are particularly proud of the fact that most of our work comes from existing clients or via personal recommendation. That is because we pride ourselves on the relationships that we develop with clients who trust us to carry out all types of work in a highly professional, helpful and tidy manner.

Thomas was very responsive to what I wanted in terms of working with various pieces of old stone which I wanted to recycle as paving slabs around a lawn. Reliable and very pleasant and easy to communicate with. Stone looks great and I am very pleased with the work. No hesitation to recommend and I am hoping to use him again for another project.

Thomas and his men repointed the front of our bungalow, repaired a stone widow sill and replaced some rendering. Despite the current covid situation causing a delay to the start of the work, the work was carried out efficiently and smoothly. I cannot fault the quality of the finish and the workmen were friendly and hard working. Overall we’re very happy to have chosen Thomas for the work.

Thomas completely replaced the platform at the top of my Colony steps, repaired some of the steps, repaired the walls on either side and repointed the walls along the pavement. Everything was colour matched to fit with the original steps and I’m delighted with the final result.
Thomas and his workers were really great, friendly and polite and worked so hard to do everything just right. Thomas kept me informed every step of the way, was very thorough when finishing off and made sure everything was tidied up. A very positive experience!

Very happy with work completed on a listed building to repair damaged stonework around a window and preventative work to redress heavily weathered pointing.

Very happy with the work done by Thomas and his team. The work involved some plastic repairs (lithomex) to my tenement wall to fix an area of stone that had delaminated and crumbled away. It was quite an awkward spot to get to as the access scaffold had to be built on another flat roof and the repair itself was high level, just below the gutter line, but they done a great job and got it sorted despite some very windy weather. I would recommend to friends and call on them again if the need arises.

T J Ferris Stonemasonry were selected to be the sole contractor when undertaking stonework and restoration due to their ability to complete work on time and budget to the highest standards. T J Ferris Stonemasonry have restored and conserved many different elements at Ayton Castle to the highest standards of craftmanship and professionalism. Starting with the complete restoration of oldest structure in the local area the dovecot in 2014. Thomas and his team have continued working on nearly every part of the estate from restoring and fitting fireplaces to structural alterations and large-scale lime pointing. Their ability to work skilfully and safely at height was even called upon when fitting the new flag pole.
