In 2014 I started T J Ferris Stonemasonry to focus on projects that offered new challenges and experiences in the field. Since then, we have gone from strength to strength working on variety of buildings and structures including some of the finest estates and homes developing our skills and expertise, and applying these to each job we undertake.

In 2015 we restored Ayton Castle’s Dovecot, the oldest structure in Ayton leading to a contract on the castle lasting for years, later we undertook major conservation work to Coldingham Priory which is the oldest building we have worked on and very historically important.

We have built our reputation on delivering the highest standard of craftsmanship with outstanding customer service at an affordable price. As a family business we have over 60 years of stonemasonry and general building experience helping us take projects from imagination or plans through to delivery no matter what challenges may arise on the way.

Tom and his team recently finished a number of stone and building repairs at my house and I cannot recommend them enough. Very happy with the work done by Thomas and his team. The work involved some plastic repairs (lithomex) to my tenement wall to fix an area of stone that had delaminated and crumbled away. It was quite an awkward spot to get to as the access scaffold had to be built on another flat roof and the repair itself was high level, just below the gutter line, but they done a great job and got it sorted despite some very windy weather. I would recommend to friends and call on them again if the need arises.

The front landing of our colony house was about to collapse and in need of urgent replacement. Several tradesmen looked at the situation but vey few appeared confident about being able to sort the problem. Luckily Thomas and his team were able to remove the old landing and rebuild in-line with the building and steps connecting. Work was swift and professional and the end result looks great as well as being both safe and solid.

Thomas and his team re-built our boundary wall which had been blown over by Storm Arwen. They did a fantastic job over 3 weeks using re-claimed bricks, and the result matches in perfectly with the original wall built over 80 years ago. David did a brilliant job of moulding the coping so that it matched and fitted in with the original coping. They are such a professional team, turning up at 7.30am every day, always cheery and very hard working. We are very pleased with the finished product. We would highly recommend.
